What is WomensWatchdog.com/org?
We are a small group of non-partisan female journalists singularly situated to uncover and make public efforts by the current administration and Congress to cut government support for (by reducing funding, reducing staff, or changing regulations) programs that were put in place to help underserved Americans. Most of these Americans are women and children. We have two goals for this website. First, we want to launch a three-person investigative unit to find, track and widely promote every instance of Trump Administration cuts to federal programs for women and others in need. We will create a permanent record of each time they attempt to or succeed in cutting programs for women or make statements that stymie women’s progress.
In addition to the investigative unit, this website will catalogue for the ages this administration’s impact as well as the impact of future administrations, on women’s progress towards parity. The website will be a vital resource used for decades to come by scholars and researchers analyzing and studying every single instance when the Trump-Pence Administration reversed women’s progress — the first administration to do so since passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
What is in it for me?
Everybody remembers Trump’s famous quote in the Billy Bush video when he bragged about assaulting women by grabbing them by the genitals. But not everyone will remember every instance of damage this administration has done or will do to Title IX protection. Nor will everyone recall that the Trump budget virtually wiped out the Women’s Bureau at the Dept. of Labor. That Bureau is critical to tracking women’s pay equity. Without that information we would not know women are two thirds of those making the minimum wage. Since 1920 the Bureau has broken down employment data by gender and wage. On May 24, 2017 we broke the story that Trump’s budget cut the Bureau’s funding from 11.5 million dollars to 2.9 million.
This is the place to come to tell and share your stories of losing federal benefits that sustain you or of when you’ve been the target of sexual assault or harassment. Whether your assaulter is a manager of a diner or a corporate CEO or a gas station mechanic or a member of the U.S. Congress, please tell your story here. We will edit out uncalled for criticism and any use of profanity. This will be a safe haven for women who want to share their stories of misfortune as well as their stories of overcoming horrendous obstacles. This is the page where you become a shero!
